El Dorado
El Dorado rum's story is rooted in Guyana's long history of rum production, dating back to the 17th century, and is named after the mythical lost city of gold. The modern brand was launched in 1992 by Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), consolidating multiple distilleries into one to preserve their diverse rum-making heritage, particularly the use of unique, historic wooden stills. These vintage stills are crucial to the brand's distinctive character and are used alongside modern equipment to produce El Dorado's wide range of rums.
