Truffle Hunter Leda Barbera D'asti 750ml
$47.99 price per bottle

Other text Leda has been a faithful companion to the Bosio family for 14 years and is legendary for her ability to hunt truffles. The family named this wine in her honor so her legacy and story will live on each time a bottle is opened and a glass is toasted. Leda is a Lagotto Romagnolo, a breed of dog that comes exclusively from the Romagna sub-region of Italy. Luca Bosio Vineyards, now in its 3rd generation, was established in 1967 by farmers Egidio and Angela. Their son, Valter Bosio married Rosella and along with their son Luca, a graduate winemaker, work tirelessly to keep up the family tradition. Luca has brought a wave of freshness and novelty both in technical and commercial areas. After the success of his innovative and progressive ideas, and under the constant support of the family, the company has taken the name of Luca Bosio Vineyards. The winery is located in the center of the Langhe region of Piedmont and has 60 acres of vineyards.
Food pairing This wine is a perfect accompaniment with chicken and pork, as well as an array of Italian cheeses, pastas and risotto. As its namesake, it is a fantastic pairing with truffles!
Producer In the centre of the Langhe, among the hills celebrated in Cesare Pavese’s poems, you can find LUCA BOSIO VINEYARDS winery, in a world where technology and rural tradition coexist. It was 1967 when Egidio and Angela decided to start a work and a life full of fatigue and satisfactions; like every good farmer Egidio started step by step, with humility and tenacity, not pretending to reach success immediately and knowing that working hard and paying attention to the quality of the products would have given him results. Now, in the XXIth Century, the company includes 60 acres of vineyards, divided in the typical cultures of the zone. The plots of land are mainly in S. Stefano Belbo but also in Castiglione Tinella, Mango, Costigliole d’Asti and Castagnole Lanze. The property of the company is only a little part of the entire panorama, in fact hundreds of farmer organizations give their grapes to our factory so we have a total annual production equal to 1000 acres of surface; grapes come from different part of Piemonte like Langa, Monferrato and Roero. The main characteristic of our winery is the will of winemaking the grapes in loco, so we can follow directly the different steps of production. We first divide the parcels of grapes in big categories, according to their origin and then we create mini lots, each one with different features and specific wine destinations. The company is continuing to grow and today is a real landmark in the wine scene of Langhe. It’s developing both the national and international market. This success is the result of the dedication of a family that, from three generations, spend care, enthusiasm and time to reach special goals; today the soul of the business is Valter Bosio, a real man of the hills, bound to his roots but with an open mind that permits him to study the new situations and answer with tenacity, respecting ethics and territory. Near Valter there is his wife Rosella, that shares with him joys and sorrows, victories and defeats; she manages the administration of the business. The future of the company is in Luca’s hands, Valter and Rosella’s son, graduate winemaker. He brought a wave of freshness and novelty both in technical and commercial areas. After the success of his innovative and progressive ideas, under the constant support of the family, the company has taken the name of LUCA BOSIO VINEYARDS. Obviously, such a big and international company, with a production so diversified, needs the help of first class technicians: technical team comprehends the oenologist Rossano Abbona, forty-year old, that looks after the legal and bureaucratic sector and the enotechnician Marco Icardi, almost thirty-year old, that daily manages the process of winemaking and the preparation of the wines in the different phases.
