Pittyvaich (silent)
Pittyvaich is one of the youngest distilleries in the Speyside area – quite possibly in the whole of Scotland for that matter. It was built in 1974 by Arthur Bell & Sons next to the Dufftown distillery and production started in 1975. Pittyvaich was intended as a sister distillery for Dufftown, providing a base malt for the Bell's blend.
The first official bottling (Flora & Fauna) was launched in 1991; the distillery closed shortly after in 1993. The distillery operated for less than two decades; the short-lived adventure of Pittyvaich sadly ended for good when the distillery was demolished in 2002.
