$373.00 price per bottle

The 2014 Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard 'White Stones' Chardonnay is a white wine from the Gualtallary sub-district of the Tupungato region in Mendoza, Argentina. Crafted by the renowned Bodega Catena Zapata, this wine exemplifies the unique terroir of the Adrianna Vineyard and the winery's commitment to producing world-class Chardonnays. Vineyard and Production Location : The Adrianna Vineyard is situated at an elevation of 4,757 feet (1,450 meters) above sea level in the Gualtallary District, Uco Valley, Mendoza. The 'White Stones' parcel spans 2. 5 hectares within Block 1 of the vineyard, named for its soil composition rich in oval white stones and gravel. These rocky soils provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wine's distinctive minerality. Viticulture : The high-altitude location offers cool nights, allowing for slow ripening, optimal acid retention, and low yields. These conditions are ideal for cultivating Chardonnay grapes with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity. Vinification : After cold settling for 12 hours in stainless steel tanks at 6ºC, fermentation occurs in French oak barrels over 45 to 95 days at 16ºC. The wine undergoes battonage and partial malolactic fermentation, followed by aging for 12 to 16 months in second, third, and fourth-use French oak barrels. This meticulous process enhances the wine's complexity and texture. Tasting Notes Appearance : Pale gold with greenish hues. Aroma : Enticing aromas of lime, green apple, and herbs, complemented by subtle notes of ginger and acacia. Palate : Dry, nimble, and refreshing, with a chalky texture that enlivens the slightly lean palate. Flavors of citrus and green fruits are balanced by a long-lasting, fruit-driven finish. Serving and Pairing Serve chilled at 10-12°C (50-54°F) to fully appreciate its aromatic profile and crispness. This Chardonnay pairs exceptionally well with seafood dishes such as grilled shrimp, seared scallops, or oysters. It also complements creamy pasta, roasted poultry, and soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert. 99 Points - James Suckling 'This is a fabulous white proving that Argentina can compete with the greatest whites of the world. Complex aromas of stones, lime, lemon, flan, meringue, and flowers. Hints of pie crust. Full body, with mineral, stone, and electric acidity. Joyous. Drink now. Made from organically grown grapes. '
