Naturae is a range of wines without added sulphur or any other additives. Each wine is unique and expresses all the original character of its fruit and terroir. The wines are grown using sustainable methods and have been awarded Terra Vitis accreditation. Wine maker notes The vinification process is very complex, especially since we do not use sulphur or other additives. The grapes are immediately pressed, with cold must settling in order to encourage the oxide compounds in the must to stabilize naturally. Alcoholic fermentation is very quick, and takes place in a controlled environment. During fermentation the temperature is restricted to 18°C. The wine is purified by racking, before malolactic fermentation and a further racking phase at controlled temperatures. The wines are bottled relatively early, to preserve their full aromatic character. The wines continue to mature in the bottle.
Producer From the discovery of the Tautavel man to the Roman hegemony in Narbonne, via the Visigoth occupation and the Cathar heresy, Languedoc-Roussillon’s past is steeped in rich history. At the beginning of the 20th Century, a phylloxera epidemic, coupled with overproduction and widespread fraud, wrought havoc for winegrowers, who subsequently decided to revolt. Since the 1950s the wines of the Languedoc have become increasingly refined, and the best estates now produce wines of truly exceptional quality. Gerard Bertrand is determined to drive this progress even further, through continued innovation and by creating internationally-renowned appellations and wines.
