Wine maker notes This is a very special wine collection in every sense of the word. It’s the only white wine Celler Vall Llach makes. We use Viognier grapes from vineyards planted in some of the harshest areas of our property, “Mas d’El Porrera”. We then blend these grapes with Grenache, Piquepoule, Macabeo and Escanyavelles (literally “Old Lady Choker”) from our plots. This limited production wine of no more than 800 bottles per vintage is in remembrance of and pays tribute to the Catalan poet, Miquel Marti i Pol, a friend of ours since we founded the winery. The name “Aigua de Llum” means “Water of Light” and is a fragment of a poem called Solstici (Solstice): A day will come when someone will drink with hands full the water of light which bubbles up from the stones of these new times which we are now shaping. Every year the winery organises “Terra i Cultura” (“Land and Culture”) which awards the Miquel Marti i Pol prize in remembrance of the special relationship this poet has shared with the winery.

Producer Rigour, quality and the importance of the countryside Celler Vall Llach was founded in the early 90s by Enric Costa and Lluis Llach, in Porrera, one of the nine towns that make up the DOC Priorat in the south of Catalonia. The winery’s first vintage was in 1998 and it reached the market at the end of 2000. The demanding standards we impose on all the winery’s activity and processes are: rigour, quality and the importance of the countryside. We use controlled microproduction of the vineyards and “trossos” (plots of land used), so that quality always outweighs quantity. Likewise, we’ve set a limit on expansion of production and growth, so we never lose the personalised and exhaustive control over each one of the processes. All this, and the unique character of the Priorat region, mean we can offer wines that we believe are fascinating and exclusive.
