Wine maker notes We believe that to truly express our terroirs in a wine, we must first get to know our vineyards and to understand our soils. There is no recipe for such winemaking, but my father, Jorge, and I have been taught three, important ingredients: passion, patience and time. Cuarto Dominio is the expression of two very small and unique lots in the San Carlos vineyard, which sits 900 meters above sea level. The difference between these two parcels is the soil composition. Lot A is only 2 hectares and comprised of 70% sand, 15% lime and 15% clay. Lot B is even smaller, just1,4 hectares, and comprised of 90% sand 10% lime and surface stones. Lot A lends ripe plum and chocolate flavors, a very soft and supple mouthfeel with excellent structure and length. Lot B offers more blackberry fruit with a slight earthy mineral tone, notes of spicy black pepper, exceptional concentration and explosive floral aromatic.
Producer Located in La Consulta, Uco Valley, Bodega Cuarto Dominio winery is owned and operated by fourth generation Mendoza producers. It all began more than a century ago, when the first generation traveled to Argentina from Europe with the hope of making their winemaking dreams a reality in Mendoza. Passion, conviction and determination helped this generation plant the first family vineyards in the East and Central Valleys shortly after their arrival to Mendoza. Over 110 years later, the legacy lives on and is thriving as the following generations of Mendoza producers have continued to cultivate and produce wines of distinction, quality and authenticity in the high elevation vineyards of the Uco Valley.
