Escudo Rojo Reserva Carmenère is crafted in Chile by Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s Escudo Rojo brand—a Chilean venture established in 1999 to bring Bordeaux’s winemaking excellence to Chile’s best terroirs. This wine is made from 100 per cent Carmenère grapes grown in the Colchagua and Rapel valleys, regions celebrated for their Mediterranean climate, diverse soils (from deep clay to gravelly maicillo), and dramatic diurnal temperature swings that nurture both power and elegance. Wine Description This Carmenère is medium- to full-bodied, with a deep crimson hue. On the nose, expect ripe dark berries—blackberry, blueberry—alongside savoury herb notes, mocha, and subtle roasted coffee bean and black pepper accents. The palate is plush and well-balanced, offering fresh, vibrant fruit, silky tannins, and a hint of oak-derived warmth and tobacco. The finish is smooth, lingering, and has a refined complexity.
