The estate, Tenuta di Carleone, was founded in 2012 by Austrian Karl Egger alongside winemaker Sean O’Callaghan, known for his minimal-intervention approach and dedication to authentic Sangiovese expression. The property spans forests, streams, and hillside vineyards that embody the region’s heritage and purity of fruit. Wine Description This Chianti Classico is crafted from 100% Sangiovese grapes, organically farmed and hand-harvested. It presents a brilliant ruby colour in the glass. Aromas unfold with fresh cherries, red raspberries, rose petals, and subtle spice, followed by hints of tobacco and crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with lively acidity, refined tannins, and layers of red fruit, violet, and savoury earth. Food Pairing This wine pairs beautifully with roasted white meats, braised dishes, tomato-based pasta, and pizza. Its freshness and savoury notes also make it an excellent companion to aged cheeses and rustic Tuscan fare.
