The 2018 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is superb. Rich, deep and fleshy, this striking, absolutely delicious Syrah has so much to offer. Blueberry, violet, lavender, chocolate, spice, licorice and black pepper capture the essence of cool-climate Syrah. In this vintage the Bien Nacido Vineyard gave us exceptional fruit. Moderate, consistent temperatures provided optimal ripeness resulting in a wine with darkness, minerality, and elegance reminiscent of a fine Côte-Rôtie Syrah. Balanced acidity makes it exciting on the palate. Plums and dark fruit integrate with Northern Rhône Syrah characteristics of cassis, tar, white pepper and black licorice. A beautiful wine that should age magnificently.
